Introduction

I put this together after a spate of "Where do I get a boat, and where do I paddle" posts from some Bay Area people. I've included much of what I know about first hand, and some that I know by rumor. Any additions would be greatly appreciated. Suggestions on the format also are welcome. Is it better to give a longer description of each location, or should I stick with the basics? In general I've tried to provide detail on trips which are not listed in the guide books, and are class I-II.

Bay and Estuaries

Around the Bay, check the tides before any trip -- it is more fun to have plenty of water to paddle on.

Nearby Rivers (less than 2 hours of driving from SF.)

Most class II and III runs are listed in the whitewater guidebooks. This section attempts to list class I and II rivers of interest, as information for these sections is harder to come by. Additional contributions here would be appreciated, as well as updates and corrections.
