Welcome to Jeff Weldon's Home Page. I am a recent graduate from the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. I completed by Ph.D. in the area of CMOS RF circuits and systems. My research advisor was Paul Gray.

My research focused on the design of RF transmitters with an emphasis on circuits architectures that faciliate single-chip integration in a standard CMOS process and yet enable high performance and the ability to operate with multiple RF standards. One of the critical circuit blocks in the transmitter is the up-conversion mixers. This work presented a mixer that up-converts and simultaneously rejects the harmonics that are created in the mixing process. This mixer was termed the harmonic-rejection mixer or HRM. To demonstrate the techniques, a transmitter was designed to operate with both the DCS-1800 and DECT standards.
